Summer House 2013

As you can see, things are a little quiet on the blog these days. Unfortunately I don't have as much time to dedicate here as I used to. However I'm still listening to music and have re-discovered Soundcloud as a portal for discovering new talent. You can keep track of what I'm loving here.

To give you a taste of the tracks I'm digging of late, here's a mix featuring the likes of Kaytranada, Full Crate, Jonas Rathsman, Klaves + more. Something a little different from my previous mixes. Enjoy.

Red Stripe Make Session 007 - Videos

Last Monday I dropped by The Brewhouse in London Fields to check out the latest Red Stripe & Boiler Room collaboration event. Alongside some superb sets from XXXY, Steve Braiden, Midland and Paul Woolford, East London bike builders 14 Bike Co were on the stage building a series of bikes. Here's a little video put together about the night.

Set of the night for me was XXXY back to back with Steve Braiden who played an eclectic selection of house, garage and techno infused tracks including a refreshing drop of Daft Punk's 'Revolution 909'.

Facebook Event

Way back in December 2009 I stepped out from behind the blog to start a night of guest DJs spinning guilty pleasures and hidden treasures, past and present, in a small bar in Haggerston.

Three years on and the Too Hip To Be Square brand has been privileged to host guest headliners that include Ali B (Kiss FM), 2 Bit Thugs, Neoteric (Dubsided), Arveene (Arveene & Misk), Stew Streetlife (Streetlife DJs), DJ Matman (DMC champ), Mooqee, The Freelance Hellraiser and Jim Sharp. With monthly residencies and events hosted at 93 Feet East, The Westbury, All Star Lanes, C.A.M.P, Electricity Showrooms and Queen Of Hoxton the resident team has now expanded to 5x resident DJ's & 2x AVDJ's.

This month we’re bringing the Too Hip To Be Square party to The Star of Bethnal Green to celebrate our 3rd birthday in style, with residents Alruii, White Tyson, Fade In Fade Out and myself spinning the finest hip-hop, funk, soul, disco house and electronica all night long.

Check out the Facebook event for more details.

Here's the 5 minute minimix I made a while back with a previous to the sounds to expect on the night:
