Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum

Back in the summer of 2006 I stumbled across this cheery chap playing on the Vice stage at Lovebox festival. With his uplifting sound and jolly dancing it wasn't long before the seated crowd of about 50 people before him were jumping to their feet and jiving with the rest of us. This was the start of my pilgrimage to see him live whenever I could as, in my mind, this guy was going to be big. The man in question was one Jack Peñate.

Over the last year or so its been great to see this guy grow in popularity and hear his music break into the suitably indie-pop scene. From catching him play at the intimate St Moritz to the sold out Scala, Peñate has gone from strength to strength releasing limited edition 7 inch vinyl's of 'Second, Minute Or Hour' and 'Torn On The Platform'. But it was 'Spit At Stars' that was picked up by radio stations that brought him into the public eye and put him where he is today.

Tomorrow see's the release of his debut album 'Matinee' featuring his singles plus the brilliant 'Got My Favourite' and 'Learning Lines'. Buy his album on the way to work and eliminate those monday morning blues.
